is this yet another controversy? What do they say to do instead of sunscreen? What’s wrong with sunscreen?

Everything these days that we use, eat, wear, touch, breathe contains toxins and chemicals that are ‘bad’ for us. Yet, we’re living longer than we did in the past. It’s up to you to decide what you want to avoid, and what you want to deal with. So..would you rather the _harmful_ stuff in sunscreen, or the effects of the sun? Your life, your choice. You make the call.
I asked my pediatrician, and he said that because there is so little known about how the chemicals affect the baby, he prefers that sunscreen is not used until six months of age. Really, a baby under six months of age should be kept out of the sun anyways, because they burn so easily, even with sunscreen. They can get sun stroke and dehydration, which can be deadly for a baby so young.
I chose to wait until six months, because I try to avoid chemicals at all costs when it comes to my baby. Why risk it? And it’s only for such a short time that you can’t. I made sure my baby stayed in the shade, wore sun hats, had her toes covered with a thin blanket when she was in the stroller and they were sticking out, used a sunshade on my stroller, used my nursing cover to shade her when she was in my carrier.. There are lots of ways!
to much of the chemicals in it can harm the baby. I dont full agree with the NO to babies. I buy sensitive baby sun screen and dressed my son at 5 months when the weather was BRIGHT and just put it on his arms legs and face and not alot just enough to cover and then placed him in the shade I think to its more of the sun exposure a child under 6 months should not be in the sun. I used it at 5 months cause we were going to the zoo and even thou the outside part is quick and we had long shorts and shade on him I wanted the extra protection go with your mothers gut
I only use it if I cant find shade for a little
my son is 5 1/2 months and you arent supposed to put any sunscreen on a baby until 6 months because the chemicals in the sun screen can cause skin rashes and other reactions.
use it if you must but try to keep the baby covered in light clothes and a sun hat
nothing is wrong with sunscreen. its just lotion with additives that protect against certain rays. as long as it is the baby [sensitive] sunscreen theres nothing wrong with it. i put sunscreen on brody when he was about a month old and his pediatrician said it was totally fine.
There is baby sunscreen that you can use after a certain amount of months I think. Theres toxins in it, I think that can be harmful to baby. Until you can use the sunscreen you are just supposed to keep them out of direct sunlight for long amounts of time and put a hat on them.
No contraversy. As far as I know, no sunscreen on babies under 6 months. But who knows, one day something is healthy and the next it’s not. Another example is flouride. they used to say no flouride toothpaste for children under 2 and now they say it’s okay.
i use a mineral no paraben blabla type of sunscreen but the best is no sun! i keep mine in the shade
