On Monday (weather permitting) we plan to take our nearly 9-month old son to the seaside for the first time!
I’m a bit worried though because of the heat and the sun – obviously I know to keep him in the shade, keep his head covered and put sunscreen on him. But any other tips or things I have to be careful of? I’d appreciate any advice, thanks!
My lil girl is 2 years old and she has dry itchy skin on her back, I catch her scrathing her back very often and I need to know what kind of lotion or oil do i get for her and where do I get it from? I’ve tryied baby lotion and baby oil and that seems to do nothing…

I only buy expensive professional brushes and I want to preserve their life span.
Here’s my routine.
I clean my brushes almost daily with a brush cleanser (just to get the color off of them).
But…
Once a week I thoroughly wash them (gently!! dont ruffle the bristles too much!) with Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. Just a little dab, and run under lukewarm water (never too hard, you could mess with the glue) until the water washes clean.
Press them gently onto a towel and let them dry on their side or upside down if at all possible. Don’t place them face up as you can possible alter their shape while drying.
They will be soft, and clean. I’ve been using this technique for years and my brushes are still like new.

I use the off-brand of Johnsons baby lotion on my face and I have soft, acne-free skin.
My brother and his wife just had a baby and I was going to wash his bottle with dish soap and they almost shot me for it. I have never heard of this. Is this something new they found out about?

I hope you parents have read the recent media attention to possible carcinogens tested in baby toiletries (links to sources below).
Granted these are trace amounts so small that they aren’t listed on the ingredients label. But does anyone know what the cumulative effects are over time?
While the right thing to do is to petition industry and the politicians to make changes, it’s going to take a long time to do.
We could buy natural baby-safe shampoos, like those from California Baby (www.californiababy.com), but they are EXPENSIVE.
So my question: does anyone know how to make homemade, natural baby-safe toiletries? Shampoo, lotion, soap, etc.
Even if you don’t know how to make it, please share your opinions on natural baby-safe store-bought toiletries.

i recently went to the beach with my 5mth and for the entire time we where in the water she screamed. i did change her and feed her, so it wasn’t for those reasons. she had sunscreen on and a hat to keep the sun off her. she normally loves the water, and baths are not a problem. what can i do to make the next time better, we live on an island near the ocean.
