WHAT CAN MY SISTER DO OR USE TO REDUCE THE ECZEMA FROM MY BABY NEICE? SHE HAS TRIED EVERYTHING FROM SOY INFANT BABY FORMULA TO CETAPHIL SOAP.. HER DOCTOR PERSCRIBED A LOTION, AND SHE IS CURRENTLY TAKING BENADRYL (FOR INFANTS) BUT IT DOESNT SEEM TO BE DOING ANYTHING. SHE EVEN WENT TO A DERMOTOLOIST, BUT NOTHING WORKS.
MY BABY NEICE GETS KIND OF LIKE RASHES ON HER CHEECKS AND LEGS AND RECENTLY MY SISTER TOLD ME SHE’S GETTING IT ON HER BACK AND CHEST.. THEY ARE RED AND PUSS COMES OUT(SOME TIMES). IF THE BABY SCRATCHES IT SHE BLEEDS. WE ARE VERY WORRIED AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE??
I have two females. I have bathed them before and I usually do every 3-5 months because one of my girls always pees on herself and turns her fur yellow and the other had skin problems.
Whats your opinion on bathing them, and guinea pig shampoo vs baby shampoo?
I’m throwing a baby shower for my brother and his wife. It’s a couples shower. I’m buying some lotions and stuff for the mom-to-be from burts bees baby line, since I know she’d like it. But I would like to get my brother something too, that he will appreciate. I don’t want it to be something really expensive because we are already spending a lot on the shower. Does anyone have any suggestions?
And just some additional info: They are not registering anywhere so I can’t just pick something off their list. And they’ve asked that no one buy them blankets, clothes, or soft toys, etc. (Long story) They also want to pick out their own crib, carseat, moniters, etc etc. So I’m looking for something kind of unique that would be more appreciated by dad than mom.
Thanks in advance!
I don’t wear make-up, but my eyelashes have been attacking my eyes, lol. I’ve trying baby shampoo, Visin, lol. Please help me before I pull all of them out!
My 19-month old son LOVES his bathtime, where I currently use Johnson&Johnson Aloe wash (for babies) and cover him in Baby oil before taking him out. Next, I use Baby Oil gel when preparing him for bed … but notice he has dry skin on his chest & back in the AM and also when I pick him up at night. Should I not be bathing him daily? Is there a particular brand of soap I can use daily, that won’t dry out his skin? What about types of creams/lotions?
MY DAUGHTER HAS A PROBLEM WHEN SHE WASES HER GENITAL AREA WITH SOAP,I HAVE TRIED BABY BATHS AND MANY OTHER FEMIE SOAPS
Eczema is a triad gene…meaning it is linked with asthma and hayfever. It is trigerred by an allergic reaction to something, fragrance and dairy are the most common. Kids will usually outgrow it by the age of 12, if not they will most likely be like me and have it their whole lives. Try using dreft detergent to eliminate the fragance portion. You may have to go for allergy testing to see what stimulates the reaction…mine is stress and dairy.
They have plenty of medicated creams such as kenalog or triamcinalone. However if the rash is on the face you dont want to use any kind of steroid based creams on the face for 2 reasons. (1) facial skin is naturally thin (2) Steroid based creams cause thinning of the facial skin.
I saw several people suggest oils baby and olive. From my personal experiance oils suffocate my skin and pores causeing me to itch more (medicated ointments instead of creams do the same thing)
When i was younger and my Eczema was raging and out of control several things helped (1) Oatmeal baths for the itching (aveno makes a great one!) (2) Eucerin or cetaphil lotion after a bath (if you have a medicated cream put on lotion after the medicine.) Lotion helps to seal up pores in a non irritating way to prevent moisture loss. (3) a humdifier or a pot of water under my bed to add water to the air. Its shown that people with eczema lose alot more water through there skin then regular skinned people. Also make sure the bath tub is really clean because of the open pores its a lot easier to contract celluitis (skin infection)
Hope my many years of dealing with eczema help! Good Luck!
Will the diaper rash ointment they use on babies work? Or just soap and water?
It should be fine, they make the baby sunblock thats a higher spf and also a more gentle lotion. though the 30spf should be fine, but i would put higher spf on a baby
