i’ve heard that you can add essential oils to the baby mild dr. bronner’s to create your own scents. (i mostly use for laundry not as a body soap). they have patchouli lotions but not soap which makes me sad. so i was wondering if i have a 32 ounce bottle (liquid obviously) of doc bronner’s, how much essential oil should i add? also, would it affect the soap itself in any way?

Yes, you can! And, it won’t affect the soap.
Technically, patchouli has been shown to be safe in up to a 10% dilution, but since the aroma is so strong, I wouldn’t go anywhere near that amount.
I’d start by adding just three drops per ounce and test it out. If it’s not strong enough, add another drop or two per ounce and test it again. It’s better to use too little and be able to add, then to use too much and have the patchouli be too overpowering. Keep adding a small amount at a time, and keep track of how much you’re adding so next time you’ll know what you like.
hmmm, that’s worth a try. Essential oils are adding in making castille soaps……so why not to Dr. Bronner’s? I don’t know if the oils can be added after the soap as formed……..hmmmm.
As to amount…….very little to start. For a 3 lbs batch of hard soap you’d add only 1.6 ounces essential oils.
