i dont have baby shampoo or a brush cleaner and i dont want to go out and buy any, so could i just use dove soap? because people say that regular soap is too harsh and won’t make the bristles soft, but dove soap is like part moisturizer isnt it?and its more gentle. plus i use it as a cleanser for my face and it works well.
btw, how often should i clean my brushes? once a month? or once a week?

YES YES YES!!!!! Use Dove for sure… it is the best, I use it.
I clean my brush once in every 2 weeks. That should do you good:)
good lucky:)))))
Depending on how often you do, then yes you can. Here’s my way:
Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water.
Apply a small amount of shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather.
Rinse bristles thoroughly under running water. (You will notice that the water leaving the brush is tinted from old makeup.)
Continue rinsing until no color leaves the brush.
Allow it to air-dry
I’d say wash them every few weeks or every month or so.
I use dove on my face too and it seems like it would be fine if you just run the brush over the bar lightly…only concern would be soap can leave a film, even dove. Next time you go to the store pick up some baby shampoo, its only a dollar for the generic/store brand. Or splurge on the mac brush cleaner, its 11 dollars and lasts forever, helps to put it in a tiny little spray bottle.
I only clean my brushes once a week, sunday nights and let them all dry overnight.
you can find great tutorials on how to clean your brushes on youtube
It is not the greatest idea to use Dove soap for your brushes. If you really want to use some soap, which I dont fully recommend, try liquid soap especially the Natural Liquid soap from Clorox.
However, you could make your own cleaner:
some conditioner and water, the conditioner is good to gently cleanse the hairs of the brushes.
clean the brushes about once a week.
I wouldn’t. Your brushes are very sensitive. One time I used a mild shampoo on my foundation brush, and it messed it up. I would only use baby shampoo. I wash my face brushes once a week because they’re very dense and it takes them a while to dry (I don’t wear makeup on the weekends) and I wash my eye brushes daily or every other day.
When I wanted to clean my makeup brushes, I use my shampoo! It sounds weird but it works.
Here are the steps:
1) Gather your brushes.
2) Rinse them in the sink.
3) Lather the brushes with shampoo.
4) Scrub the makeup out (you’ll see it in the sink and on your hands).
5) Rinse out the extra soap.
6) Put them on a towel to air dry overnight!
Hope this helps!
clean your makeup brush once a week depending on how much you use it. you should clean your makeup sponges everyday though if you dont that causes acne. rememeber to wash your face five times a day or every chance you get and dont put mkaeup over dirty skin.
Of course. Dove is really gentle, and the key to cleaning your brushes is to use something mild and soft (like baby shampoo). I recommend cleaning your brushes every 1-2 months just to keep them bacteria free and keep them long lasting.
i use my hair shampoo and then my conditioner. it works great and i clean them once a month once a week is too much for the brush
I wouldnt recommend dove soap…..Try shampoo and conditioner, especially if the brushes are reall hair
try it on like.. one brush or something. im sure itll be fine.
personally i clean mine twice a week.
clean them when you feel they are dirty
I reckon it’d be mild enough! You only need to clean your brushes once a month.
