My Bunny Is Ill And Has Dirty Fur – Should I Wash Him, And What With?

My bunny is elderly and unwell (he is taking medicines from the vet) and he is wetting himself occasionally, so has quite a lot of stale wee around his tail. We tried to clean him up with a hot wet cloth but this didn’t do much to help because he really needs a proper shampoo.
I was thinking about bathing his hind areas with baby shampoo. Would this be ok or would it really upset him? Would baby shampoo be suitable? He does wash himself a lot but he is still grubby and it can’t be comfortable for him. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

hi i own many rabbits and have experienced when they get ill and haven’t got the energy to clean them self’s, its a not very nice. but when my rabbit got ill i just got a cloth with warm water and cleaned him a little i didn’t bath him because i didn’t want to stress him.remember to tempt him with loads of his favourite veggies and fresh hay.when my bunny got ill i bought some probiotic to put in her water from pets at home it keeps there immune systom healthy.hope your bunny gets better soon.
My rabbit had a similar problem and yup baby shampoo worked great. Just keep to the really messy areas; you don’t want to destroy the natural oils in the fur. And make sure you dry the bunny well so he doesn’t get a chill!
Rabbits Are Normally Ticklish On The Hind Leg.
You Can Wet A Towel And Put Some Hay On The Towel And Then Put Your Rabbit On The Towel.
Your Rabbit Will Eat The Hay And Get Cleaned At The Same Time.
maybe you shouldn’t have taken an animal form its natural habitat to live in a disgusting cage
