What To Use On Discolored Dry African American Skin?

Recently I’ve been using vaseline, cocoa butter, and baby oil. And even though it does seem to be healing my skin, my skin seems to be getting dryer and dryer. I use dove soap…..could that be it? Also my skin is very discolored and I would like to walk into the beauty section and not have to pick up three different shades of foundation for once in my life. What can I use to fix that?

I’m not sure if I am caring for my 2 month old foster son鈥檚 hair/scalp correctly. He has a ton of beautiful hair! But his scalp is always very dry, it’s not like cradle cap it’s just dry and flakey. I know I’m not suppose to wash his hair as after as white babies, so I only wash it like twice a week with Johnson鈥檚 naturals baby shampoo. I have tried baby oil after his baths, different kinds of lotion and pink oil but nothing seems to be helping. What can I do?
