You can take your baby to the beach at any age, but don’t use sunscreen until they are over 6 months old. I use sensitive skin, unscented, hypoallergenic for my baby.

It is going to be close to 80 today here in Michigan, so I have decided to be brave and take my 9 year, her 9 year old friend and our 11 month old baby out to our cottage on lake Michigan for the day.
The problem is, this is the first time I have taken the baby to the beach. It has been 9 years since I have had a baby at a beach and I am not sure what I should be packing.
Please help. What should I be sure to pack? (I have the sunscreen already in the bag)

we’re planning a trip to panama city beach for memorial day weekend. The problem is sunscreen. my son will only be 2 months..and sunscreens usually are for 6mths and older right? what can i use? i know to keep him in the shade and keep him hydrated and cool. my friend told me that i should also dress him in light, longsleeved clothing, but wouldn’t that be too hot?
What do you think i should do besides ‘not going’ ??
Oh, and i have his DR appt on thursday, so i will ask DR, also.
Thanks moms!

I Usually Shave With Baby Oil And It Works Great…can I Use It With Sun Tan Lotion At The Beach???

I also apply it all over my body after I use shower gel because it makes my skin feel great and don’t need to apply lotion right out of the shower. So when I go to the beach…will the suntan lotion not go over very well? And will the baby oil burn me on its own?

PLus, would it be better to take a umbrella stroller then a big stoller. Help?

On Monday (weather permitting) we plan to take our nearly 9-month old son to the seaside for the first time!
I’m a bit worried though because of the heat and the sun – obviously I know to keep him in the shade, keep his head covered and put sunscreen on him. But any other tips or things I have to be careful of? I’d appreciate any advice, thanks!

So this is our time of month me, my 3 boys, and my sister and her 2 kids all go to Mexico for 2 weeks. We’ve been doing this for the past 5 years now. While we are at our hotel about to go to the beach for the day, my sister and I lather up all the kids in sunscreen. I get my own 3 boys, she gets her 2. My oldest is 14 and doesn’t have THAT much of a problem with me doing it at the hotel but he will sometimes complain, but the real problem is when we have been at the beach for a couple hours and its time to reapply, I have him come to our umbrella is set up and I reapply sunscreen on him and get him covered again. He gets SUPER embarrassed while I’m doing it, he constantly says ‘I can do it myself I’m not a baby” or “people are going to see theres way too many people around and they will think I’m a little kid!”
The problem is, my oldest is extremely fair skinned and burns like paper, so I have to be real careful. Last summer I let him go to the swimming pool with one of his friends and I had to leave for work early, so I left the susncreen on the counter and told him to use it, when he got back he was toasted burnt…So I won’t let it happen again.
Honesltly, what would be the best situation? Its totally true and I’ve even seen it that at the beach basically mom is doing the exact same for their kids, especially at mexico. I’m going to show my son the answers, to let him know its not a big deal. Women or mothers, do you see it being a big deal? Would you do the same with your kid?

He gets SUPER embarrassed while I’m doing it, he constantly says ‘I can do it myself I’m not a baby” or “people are going to see theres way too many people around and they will think I’m a little kid!” My sister’s boys are the same age as mine, and she even puts moisturizer on them while still at the beach before we head back yet they don’t even complain.. I’ve always waited until we get back to the hotel and all have showers before I use lotion so there’s no need to rush and they all can wait their turn relaxed watching tv.
